I and my partner discovered the beauty of the Casentino Valley in Tuscany 8 years ago when we visited on holiday. We rented a villa in the area and within a few days decided that the area was perfect to buy property. We first found Tuscany Cooking Vacations Casa Ombuto Villa and fell in love with the setting and the magic feel about the place. The secluded spot, the breathtaking views and the villa itself with its different levels and roofs all made it very special and we chose to buy it. Two and a half years of renovation brought the villa to its present state; for us it was imperative to preserve the same Tuscan style and charm along with addition of modern comforts.

Our passion for Tuscan villas did not end there and almost three years ago we found Tuscany Cooking Vacations Torre del Tartufo Villa. We just completed renovation of this magnificent villa. Situated close to Arezzo, it is on an extensive estate with truffles (hence the name Tartufo) and apple orchards. All improvements took environmental aspects into consideration. The swimming pools and villa are solar heated. The pools have a special Nature 2 pool cleaning system. All wood used in the fireplaces is obtained from our two estates; we only use wood that has been obtained from maintaining our forests.

The villas are now used as our holiday home for our family and friends. When we are not there, we rent it out as a holiday villa for weddings or family reunions. Paola Baccetti runs the Italian cookery course at Casa Ombuto, Franco Palandra at Torre del Tartufo and Sylvie Pragout the Mediterranean cookery course at Casa Ombuto. These activities are run by Bella Toscana SRL - Italy. We live in the Netherlands and have two daughters, Georgina (11) and Julia (5). My partner is Dutch and I was born in South Africa.
